Puka
Ecologist Ian Atkinson holds a puka leaf on the Hen and Chickens Islands, in November 1965. Puka are actually endemic to the Three Kings Islands, but were probably taken by Māori to the Hen and Chickens and cultivated there. With its giant, leathery leaves, the puka is a desirable landscaping plant, grown in many New Zealand gardens.
