Story: Dune lands

Lyall Bay, 1909 (1st of 2)

Lyall Bay, 1909

One of the largest former dune lands in Wellington is now a built-up area. These dunes are at Lyall Bay in 1909, looking south. The dune land stretched from the exposed south coast across the narrow low-lying isthmus of land to Evans Bay on Wellington Harbour.
