Story: Deer and deer farming
Red deer usually have only one fawn per pregnancy, and not all hinds become pregnant in any one year. The national average weaning percentage for red deer in 2005 was about 80% – in other words, for every 100 hinds mated, 80 fawns were eventually weaned.
