Keeping the language alive

In 2004 a Cook Islands Māori language curriculum was launched in New Zealand after six years of development. It is available to preschools and schools throughout the country and aims to help retain Cook Islands Māori as a living language. These young Cook Islanders attend Kia Orana Punanga Reo (centre for language) in South Auckland.
