Tīvaevae quilts (1st of 5)
This tīvaevae ta‘orei, a quilt made from many small pieces of material sewn into a pattern, was made by a Cook Islands woman and given to Te Papa, the Museum of New Zealand, in 1995. Common designs in this type of quilt are uati (diamonds), paka‘onu (hexagons) and stars.
