Story: Cook Islanders
Missionaries arrived in the Cooks in the early 1820s and soon converted people from their ‘heathen darkness’. The interiors of Cook Islands Christian churches have a distinctive design – stained glass windows, thick plastered walls made of coral, and ornate tiered pulpits.
