Story: Cook Islanders
Margaret Brereton moved to New Zealand from the Cook Islands in 1968 with her family. She is pictured in her Wellington business premises Kay and Tucker, where she makes and sells handcrafted bed linen that has a subtle Pacific influence. She started the business in the spare room of her home in 1995, and by 2004 it had grown to serve half a dozen outlets in New Zealand and a small export market. Her parents have since retired to the Cook Islands, where other family members still live.
