Spraying rotenone

Confined populations of coarse fish are eradicated by the Department of Conservation. These workers are spraying rotenone (a natural toxin) into a Nelson pond to kill pest fish species. A survey in the Nelson region in 2000 had revealed gambusia and koi carp in some farm ponds.
