Story: Coarse fish

‘Stop the spread’

‘Stop the spread’

Some introduced fish, including rudd, catfish and koi carp, are regarded as pests because they damage freshwater environments. This sign in North Canterbury, put up by the Department of Conservation, asks people to help in stopping the spread of rudd, koi carp, gambusia and catfish. In Canterbury coarse fish species have been illegally spread to ponds by anglers.
