Story: Coal and coal mining
This list of mining-related deaths in the Denniston area shows that in 25 years 26 people died. The most frequent cause was the fall of rock or stone. Although explosions that caused the tragic deaths of many miners made headlines, mining was always a dangerous pursuit and brought many individual fatalities.
