Rainfall during El Niño and La Niña
These maps show rainfall variations from the norm during nine La Niña summers (1957/58–1997/98) and nine El Niño summers (1949/50–1999/2000). La Niña brings rain to the north and east and drought to the south and west, while El Niño has exactly the opposite effect.
