Story: Citizenship
By the end of the 20th century almost a quarter of those choosing to become New Zealand citizens were Chinese (from China itself, Hong Kong and Taiwan). Including Koreans, South-East Asians and Indians, more than half of new citizens were Asian. The Germans and Scandinavians who had been the dominant groups to become naturalised 100 years before were now relatively few in number.
