Akaroa Salmon

In the 1980s Tom and Duncan Bates set up their salmon farming operation, Akaroa Salmon, in Akaroa Harbour. One of only three such farms in New Zealand, it produces about 150 tonnes of fish for the domestic market each year. There is also a retail outlet in Christchurch.
