Upham memorial, Amberley

Canterbury farmer Charles Upham was one of New Zealand’s most famous heroes of the Second World War, winning a Victoria Cross and bar for courage. After the war he farmed for many years at the mouth of the Conway River. This statue was erected in nearby Amberley in 1997.
