Godley Head gun emplacement
Coastal defence works were built on Godley Head during the Second World War to protect Canterbury in the event of a surprise attack on its shores. Eventually the fort consisted of three gun emplacements, each housing a long-range gun and a magazine. The remains of the emplacements can still be seen.
