Story: Canoe traditions
In northern traditions Ruawharo came on the Tākitimu canoe after a dispute with Uenuku, a chief in Hawaiki. Here, members of the Ngāti Kahungunu tribe, whose ancestors came on the canoe, sing a waiata (song) about Ruawharo.
