The <em>Mataatua</em> at Whakatāne

Photographed in 1953, Miss R. Hōhāpata (right) and Miss I. Pāwhara stand before a plaque erected in 1940 to commemorate the landing of the Mataatua canoe in Whakatāne. Miss Hōhāpata was a descendant of Toroa, the captain.
