Folk dancers
Dance represents cultural pride and identity, and wherever there are Cambodian communities there are dance troupes. The folk dancers pictured here are performing a traditional fertility dance at the Cuba Street Carnival in Wellington, 2004. The dance, which makes use of coconut shells, represents courtship between the male and female dancers and lauds the usefulness of the coconut.
