Story: Butterflies and moths
Found in South Island tussock country, the tussock butterfly (Argyrophenga antipodum) is familiar to anyone who ventures into the Otago and Southland hills. The male is slightly larger than the female, and the patches on its wings are reddish brown, while those on the female’s are a light yellow. This specimen is in the Murchison Mountains, Fiordland.
