Kauri logs

Different forms of transport were used to get logs from the bush to the mill. The scale of the task can be seen from these kauri logs which were felled in the Kauaeranga Valley, near Thames, in the 1920s. In this case a 350-metre chute was built to get the logs down to a creek.
