Plaster ceilings became very popular with wealthier householders in the early 1900s. These three examples are from Carrara, a Wellington firm established in 1903 and still operating in 2009. The name comes from the Carrara marble quarries in Italy. During the early 1900s plaster craftsmen arrived from England and Australia to work for the company.
