This view of a corner of the clock tower building at Otago University illustrates the types of local building stones used. The base-course is blotchy buff-grey Port Chalmers breccia, the grey, dense volcanic rock above is Leith trachyandesite, and the edging material (string courses) are made of white Ōamaru limestone.
