Juvenile falcon

Juvenile falcon

A young New Zealand falcon’s barred markings are less distinct than an adult’s. The eye-ring and cere (fleshy patch above the bill) are bright yellow in the adult, but paler in the juvenile. This is a southern New Zealand falcon in Fiordland’s Murchison Mountains.
