Story: Biosecurity
The discovery of a lone Asian gypsy moth in Hamilton in 2003 led to an aerial spraying eradication campaign. This cartoon also alludes to the varroa bee mite, an exotic parasite that significantly reduces the number of bees in a hive. It was first noticed in South Auckland in 2000.
