Oil painting of the White Terraces, Lake Rotomahana, by Charles Blomfield, 1888

Charles Blomfield had painted the Pink and White Terraces at Lake Rotomahana before their destruction in the 1886 eruption of Mt Tarawera, and subsequently copied and sold earlier works to meet a popular demand.
