Click to see the bicycle evolve – from the velocipede of the 1860s to the penny-farthing of the 1870s, to the safety bicycle of the 1880s. There were few innovations in the 20th century for the general cyclist until the 10-speed in the 1970s, and the BMX (bicycle motocross) and mountain bikes in the 1980s.
