Story: Beetles
This speargrass weevil (Lyperobius huttoni) was found in the Seaward Kaikōura Range. The species inhabits tussock grasslands and herbfields in sub-alpine regions of the South Island, where they feed on their host plant, speargrass. They can also be found at low altitudes on the Wellington coast. The adult beetles are active by day.
