Honey harvest

Honey is harvested from hives in late spring or summer, and the hives are relocated to new sites. Here, beekeepers from Mossops Honey, near Tauranga, have uncapped hives prior to removing boxes for honey extraction back at the factory. Smoke is being used in the lower hive to quieten the bees.
