Prize-winning steak and surviving cattle

Mosgiel farmer George Cruikshank holds up a steak, watched suspiciously by his three surviving cattle. Cruikshank was one of 16 finalists in the 2004 Steak of Origin competition, with a sirloin steak from a pure Limousin steer raised in a stress-free environment. The competition is run by the New Zealand Beef and Lamb Marketing Bureau to encourage beef breeders and finishers to produce a high-quality product.
