Limousin calf with Friesian foster mother

Limousin calf with Friesian foster mother

This is the second Limousin calf born in New Zealand, in 1972. The Friesian foster mother had been the recipient of a pure Limousin embryo by transplant. She was then imported into New Zealand, where the calf was born. Limousin cattle were bred in the harsh environment of the Massif Central in France and are noted for their hardiness and their excellent growth rates.
