J. C. Beaglehole at Cook’s Cove
This photograph shows John Beaglehole, the biographer of James Cook, at Cook’s Cove in Tolaga Bay, in 1965. Beaglehole was a member of the Historic Places Trust, helping select a site for a stone memorial to Cook’s visit. This was the second place Cook landed in New Zealand.
