Port at Mt Maunganui, 1920s (1 o 2)
In the 1920s the port of Tauranga amounted to no more than four modest wharfs. Two were at Tauranga, and one at the base of the mountain itself (all out of sight in this image). The fourth, Salisbury wharf (centre), was built to service rail construction in 1911.
