Women of Te Urewera prepare potatoes during the visit of Lord Ranfurly (governor of New Zealand) in March 1904. The photograph was taken by Malcolm Ross, who accompanied the party. It was the first time a governor had visited this region, where Māori still enjoyed autonomy.
