Surf lifesaving headquarters

Surf lifesaving headquarters

The Mt Maunganui Surf Club was formed in 1914 and incorporated in 1930. Its members have always provided voluntary surf lifesaving services and education programmes. As the beach at Mt Maunganui is an ideal venue for surf lifesaving competitions, the club has hosted national events and produced champion teams. Its offices are behind the lookout tower, where lifeguards monitor water safety in summer.
