Māori midden, Takapuna

Māori midden, Takapuna

In July 2007 roading contractors in Takapuna uncovered a midden (rubbish dump) filled with shells. The find suggests there was a Māori settlement close by. Work was stopped while archaeologists and Māori inspected the area. The age of the site is not yet known.
