'Albion Wright' by Leo Bensemann

'Albion Wright' by Leo Bensemann

Leo Bensemann's portrait of Albion Wright was painted in 1947, the year that Wright established the Pegasus Press. Pegasus followed the lead of the Caxton Press in publishing serious New Zealand literary works, including works by Janet Frame. Denis Glover worked for Pegasus briefly after losing his position at the Caxton Press in 1951.
