Story: Arable farming
The main grain crops grown in New Zealand are (left to right) barley, wheat and oats. The distinguishing feature of barley is the long awns (bristles) that protrude from the kernels of the grain. In oats the grain is produced on an open seed head which is different from the compact seed head of wheat and barley.
