Scallops
Fan-shaped scallops swim about the shallow sea floor. They are easily recognised by their ribbed shells, the upper one flat and the lower curved. A large muscle enables the scallop to open and close its shells. In this photo of a resting scallop, a row of tiny eyes can be seen just below the upper shell.
