Snow tussocks

New Zealand's alpine grasslands are dominated by large tussock grasses belonging to the genus Chionochloa. This photograph in Aoraki Mt Cook National Park shows flowering snow tussocks alongside native herbaceous plants (buttercups, wild spaniards and mountain daisies), interspersed with a low cover of introduced pasture grasses.
