Advertising on a rugby league jersey

The increasing professionalisation of sports, especially cricket, rugby, rugby league, basketball and soccer (the last four all competing in trans-Tasman competitions) has strengthened the use of sports to promote goods. Advertising is found on hoardings around the sports ground, and on the jerseys of the players. In this case, Vodafone mobile phones and Lion beer are prominently displayed on the jerseys of New Zealand Warriors, who are playing against the Sydney Roosters during the National Rugby League semi-final at Mt Smart stadium, Auckland, in September 2008.
