Te Ara is a nine-year project that will run until 2013. Planned content includes:

• Government and Nation – systems of government and symbols of national identity
• Daily Life – the customs, leisure activities and beliefs that make New Zealand unique
• Creativity – arts, culture, invention and innovation
• Places – the 22 main regions of New Zealand. Still to come:  the King Country, and offshore islands. Plus: 50 iconic places, such as Cape Rēinga and Milford Sound.
