By the 1990s, the ‘White New Zealand’ policy was long gone. Skills, assets, education and other attributes determined who would be allowed to enter New Zealand. The changes, made through the 1970s and 1980s, were reflected in the diverse ethnicities of immigrants of the 1990s.
