Juvenile giant squid
It was not until September 2005 that an adult giant squid was photographed in the wild. But four years earlier, New Zealand scientist Steve O’Shea caught some tiny (9–13 millimetre) juvenile giant squid off the Kaikōura coast. This one survived only a few days in captivity.
