New Zealand distribution of the dusky dolphin

Generally seen around most of the South Island (except for Canterbury) and the southern North Island, duskies may also move as far north as Gisborne in winter. They have also been seen occasionally at the Chatham Islands, 800 kilometres to the east, and at the Auckland Islands and Campbell Island, about 600 kilometres south of the South Island.
