Lance McCaskill

Lance McCaskill was a pioneer in soil conservation and an effective advocate for protection of the natural environment. He realised that flooding in the lower reaches of rivers was linked to erosion in the mountains, and his campaign for management of high-country catchments culminated in the Soil Conservation and Rivers Control Act of 1941.
