An early scintillometer (2nd of 2)
The earliest instruments for detecting radioactivity were large and clumsy. But with the development of portable instruments, anyone could go prospecting for radioactive minerals. This scintillometer was obtained by the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research in the early 1950s, and is still used today.
