Goldmining postage stamp

A set of stamps produced for the New Zealand centennial in 1940 celebrated progress in gold mining. The large dredge on the right is presented as the modern way of mining gold, compared with early miners using only a shovel and gold pan. In 1940 there was little concern about the environmental effects of dredging.
