Woolf Fisher, 1912–1975


In 1960, industrialist Woolf Fisher was asked to chair a company investigating the smelting of steel from Waikato iron sands, and from 1965 he was the chairman of the board of New Zealand Steel.

Tasman Joseph McKee, 1911–1973


The McKee family established Lime and Marble Ltd to supply lime and other non-metallic minerals to industry and agriculture throughout New Zealand. Tas McKee took over the firm from his father in 1943 and energetically explored for a variety of minerals, including uranium and oil.
