Dancing at Rotowaro hall
Like many mining communities, Rotowaro in the Waikato region had a strong community spirit. Country-music dances were held at the local hall, such as this ‘Patsy Riggir Special’, with the music provided by guitar, saxophone, piano, and hob-nail boots. When it was decided that the town would have to be moved to allow for opencast mining, the Glen Afton Country Music Club re-established itself in Huntly.
