Malcolm Simpson, 1948

In January 1948 Malcolm Simpson, a Nelson schoolboy, was a member of the party that accompanied geologist Noel Benson of the University of Otago on an expedition to the Cobb valley. Malcolm found fossils which were later identified as trilobites – and the first Cambrian fossils found in New Zealand.
